Sometimes a client needs help just for a one-off project, or for a service that falls outside the retained service. If the latter, clients would be informed before any work commences.


Even if you are not a client but are in need of additional or specific ad-hoc HR support, BackupHR is here to assist.

All consultancy work is charged on an hourly rate or a fixed price, with agreed expenses where appropriate. It can be a very cost-effective method of bringing in HR expertise or using solicitors.

If your contracts and handbook are out of date or you need to roll out new documents, BackupHR can:

Provide Up to Date Employment Contractual Documentation

  • Review existing template contracts and handbook, with a view to producing drafts incorporating our recommendations and updates which would be sent to the client to consider

  • Through an exchange of video conferencing, emails and/or telephone calls, discuss proposed amendments, providing reasoning for them.

  • Prepare and send final drafts to the client for consideration.

  • Once drafts agreed, produce and send final up to date and legally compliant documentation ready for the client to issue.

 

Assist with Roll Out of New Contractual Documentation Assistance

  • Using either a spreadsheet of specific collated information provided by the client, or physically attending client site to go through personnel files, pull together new contracts for all existing employees based on agreed templates.

  • Liaise with the client to address any anomalies or inconsistencies, so that the new contracts contain the correct information, e.g. original start dates, job titles, hours of work, entitlements etc.

If you need support with regards to a disciplinary/dismissal matter, or want someone to carry out an investigation into an allegation of harassment/bullying, a disciplinary issue or a grievance claim etc., BackupHR can:

 

Provide assistance with handling any formal disciplinary or dismissal matters​

  • Talk through with the client to identify the main issues

  • Put forward solution options, together with outlining any associated risks

  • Assistance with producing written correspondence, such invite, outcome and appeal letters

  • Give coaching to the disciplining Manager on meeting structure and types of questions to ask

  • Provide advice and guidance either during an adjournment or after the meeting on how proceed

  • Assistance with any subsequent appeal process

  • If required, attend any meetings in either an advisory role or a more active capacity, but not the decision maker

 

Conduct an independent investigation

  • Draft and agree terms of reference, as well as a proposed investigation plan

  • Conduct investigation meeting(s), including any reluctant witnesses

  • Produce an investigation report with recommendations

  • Any other follow up action as required

  • Alternatively, facilitate, if appropriate, settlement agreements
